Meet the Team: Fin

Meet Fin, one of our production operatives.

Fin has been with Somerset Charcuterie for nearly three years and is a valued member of our production team. As is true for all of the team, he’s a real foodie. He has a huge passion for Japanese cuisine, cooking intricate meals from scratch – it’s always a good day when Fin brings some of his creations into the lunch room.

At first Fin found the scientific side of charcuterie making a bit of a challenge, and he certainly learnt a lot of new skills quickly, but now finds this one of the most enjoyable parts of the job and is somewhat of an expert at predicting (and checking) Ph drop during fermentation!

He also loves getting to try all the different products and being able to eat and say “it’s part of my job” is perfect for him!

Most people don’t know that Fin is great at fixing stuff on his car. Having studied engineering at college for three years and doing lots of work on his own car means that if he didn’t work at Somerset Charcuterie, he’d probably pursue a career as a mechanic. He enjoys learning about how cars work – “it’s really not as hard as you think” (I think we’ll take his word for it!).

Fin’s favourite charcuterie is the Mangalitsa Coppa describing it as like eating meat layered with salted butter, in an absolutely amazing way. “If you ever see a pack at the markets, definitely get it”.

For Fin, he most enjoys our charcuterie with the people he loves the most saying “a lot of time and effort goes into making our charcuterie and knowing you can share it with the ones who mean the most to you is pretty special.” We couldn’t agree more.
